Anna Stonehouse
Anna Stonehouse is a full-time photojournalist based in Aspen, CO. I have been the full-time staff photographer at The Aspen Times for almost 3 years. I am a 2010 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying photography and graphic design.
One of my biggest accomplishments was providing the Roaring Fork Valley with in-depth photojournalistic coverage of the Lake Christine Fire in Basalt, CO in the summer of 2018. Human-interest pieces are my specialty because I connect easily with people and try to capture real moments.
I started shooting for the school newspaper, The Daily Cardinal, in 2007, and was the photographic intern for the Athletic Communications Department for the 2009-2010 school year. Following graduation I was contracted out through the Athletic Communications Department as a photographer.
I've shot extreme sporting events including Winter X Games and FIS World Championships, weddings, portraits, apartment showrooms, and landscapes. Most of my landscape work was taken when I studied abroad in New Zealand for a semester in 2009. I recently returned from a year abroad 2010-2011, where I pursued freelance photography endeavors including the Pub Charity Rugby Sevens, Challenge Wanaka Triathlon, 2011 NZ Winter Games, and the NZ Junior Rugby Festival. I documented all of these high-profile athlete events in a photojournalistic manner, capturing the essence of the event.
I love documenting all aspects of life and capturing the true essence of human nature. I've always had a passion for adventure and can't wait to continue pursuing a career-filled life of photography.
